FLIPPED CLASSROOM: LESSON OUTSIDE SCHOOL

eduwithafra

Hello everyone, I'm back after a short break. Today, I will share an assignment that I prepared with my partner Öykü Yıldız (you can access her blog here) for a class at school. Our task in this assignment was to create a Flipped Classroom lesson. A flipped classroom is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning, which aims to increase student engagement and learning by having pupils complete readings at home and work on live problem-solving during class time.

First, we chose our topic. Our topic is Simple Past Tense. Then, we prepared a tutorial slide for the course using the Canva application that I have mentioned many times. After the slide was ready, we wrote a text for the video. Now that the text is ready, we can record the video. Again, we took a screen video from Canva and recorded our voice on the video. After a little editing, the video was ready and we could now upload it to YouTube.

Honestly, I liked the Flipped Classroom idea very much. It's something different for students and this can excite them. It is also advantageous for them to be able to watch the video over and over again. But I think there are also negative aspects. Not every student may watch the video. He can pretend to watch. Since it is not in the teacher's field of vision, he does not take it as seriously as school lessons and does not see it as an obligation. This means breaking away from the lesson. In my opinion, this idea can be tried and if it is seen to be beneficial, it should be continued. Still, I loved it and found it entertaining. You can access the video by clicking here. I will also put the video itself below. Enjoy watching. Take care, see you in the next post!
